Happy Blog Birthday

March 17 my blog turned one year old and I've been married another year (19 and going strong!). My thumb feels good enough to take the protective plastic off, but I know that to have a good fix I've been warned to keep it on for the whole six weeks. DH and I went with 25 rowdy (and some uncivilized) teenagers and three other adults to a church weekend event in another state. We and they had an awesome time even if not much sleep was involved. A friend of my daughter lost his 39 year old mother suddenly due to an anuerysm on the 12th, he went to the weekend trip also... my heart was really breaking for him. If you'd like to think of "d" and give a quick prayer for him and family I extend the effort to tell you about it for that purpose.

I have been thinking about gardening and beginning to order. We are going through some major property purchases and related dealings right now, so the face of my garden will be changing greatly this summer. I am looking forward to it. March 21 is the first day of spring. We plant potatoes, a few onions, and some greens seeds on Good Friday usually. Our average last frost date is May 15th and we garden until mid October (short growing season). Soon I have my left hand back in use for cooking and typing, until then I am slowed down tremendously so I haven't been posting much.

Until then... I am still reading other blogs (just not typing much). Happy St Patty's day! Check out my archives from a year ago and you'll find some corned gluten roast as well as big beautiful bran muffins. CHEERS and happy soon to be spring!

Dori, happy blogversary and happy anniversary! I'm really glad to know your thumb is healing, too. That must be annoying not to have all the digits in perfect working order! You have such patience, my friend.

I'm so sorry about the young mother who passed away. That really hurts me for your daughter's friend. I am most certainly sending a few prayers and thoughts for "d" and his family at this time.

I'm glad you got to go away for that trip even if it was with all the wild 'n' craaaazy kids. Bet there were few dull moments...

Looking forward to seeing how Dori's garden will grow this year...

Looking forward to Spring in a big way here!

Happy blogiversary.. and anniversary! That's so exciting :-) Yeah, definitely let your thumb heal all the way.. I'm sorry about the friend, I'm sure it helped for him to be surrounded by good company though, in his time of need. Talk to you later!

Congrats on one year of vegan blogging and of course Happy Anniversary!!! 19 years....that's fabulous :) That is so sad about your daughter's friend losing his mom. So young too. I'll definitely keep him in my prayers.

I've been thinking about my garden too. We're waiting to hear back if we scored a community garden plot. I don't have much room for a garden otherwise in our condo rental.

Happy Anniversary of all sorts!

I'm glad you survived the teenagers. My garden is started, and I wanted to work on it this past weekend but I was fasting (and it was sunny, too! It's supposed to rain this weekend, poo!). My chard I planted three weeks ago is 1/2 inch tall and I have a few green beans & snap peas poking up through the ground. I had a slug in there with the chard and looked up what slugs don't like, which turns out to be copper & seaweed. So, I sprinkled some kelp powder around the bed, which repelled the slugs, but attracted droves of sugar ants! oh well, at least the ants don't seem to want any chard.

Happy Blog Birthday (and anniversary too!). When I read that you could take the protective covering off your thumb, I thought it was in reference to it being your blog's 1st birthday...you were advanced enough to take off the "play" covering.

That's what I get for reading too fast.

Happy wedding and blog anniversary.

Glad to hear your thumb is getting better.

I didn't realize your last frost date would be as late as May when we are already in Winter in South Africa. I can begin to feel the chill here already in the evenings so know Winter is just around the corner :(

Poor D.. that is so sad... I will definitely light a candle and say some prayers for him and his family.. how hard that has to be.

Life is so precious and fragile.

Happy anniversary, both blogging and marriage!
